Pleasant and quiet hotel, an excellent location for hiking in the Mercantour National Park. Altitude ~1500 metres. Restaurant serves really excellent food. Rooms small but adequate. Easy parking (in June - cannot comment on high season). Cannot comment on cross-country skiing, etc in winter.
We stayed two nights and felt really at ease at this warm, unpretentious and comfortable place. All the staff made us feel most welcome and showed genuine interest in us. Breakfast and dinner were varied and plentiful, using quality local ingredients. Our room was cosy with a little balcony - a little dated, but that added to the charm.Perfect location for exploring the Vallee des Merveilles.
Far away from the ski resorts, Casterino is a very small village with a fabulous place to stay. Les Melezes has very pretty rooms, and for the price, they have all the comfort you can wish for. The food is outstanding... homemade bread, brioche, deserts, etc, are just amazing. We came there with a group of friends, and had a great time with show shoes, and nordic trails, the evening by the fireplace with a gourmet meal was just the cherry to top the cake. We had spent one night at another hotel in Tende, but they messed up our reservation and only booked that night, not the two we had asked for.Gave us a chance to try an alternate, and a good one it turned out to be.Clean, comfortable rooms although small, friendly staff.But the real hit was the dinner; wow!Excellent food worthy of a much nice hotel.Plus they went out of their way to accommodate my friend's dietary restrictions.This is a good budget hotel, probably the best in town.
